Chapter 2: The Polygon Toolset: Polygonal Display Options The Isolate Select menu option is also very handy for working with more complex polygonal shapes. This allows you to select a group of faces and, upon acivating Isolate Select, make them the only visible components on the geometry. This has several advantages over using the Hide command. First, Isolate Select affects only the interactive view ports to make your scene easier to work with, your final renders arenŐt modified at all. Second, with Isolate Select you are able to single out individual components on a model and alter their visibility as opposed to affecting the entire object. There are several tools for working with Isolate Select, all located in the Show]Isolate Select menu. They are: View Selected View Selected turns on or off the Isolate Select feature. When turned on, the word "Isolate" appears before the camera name in the viewport and whatever faces are selected are the only ones shown.
Auto Load Selected Objects With Auto Load Selected Objects turned on, any subsequent changes in face selection will affect the display of the Isolate Select feature, displaying or hiding new faces as they are selected or deselected.
Load Selected Objects Add Selected Objects Remove Selected Objects Load, Add, and Remove Selected Objects only work if Auto Load Selected Objects is on. They allow you add or subtract from the current Isolate Select display respectively.
Bookmarks Bookmarks allow you to define "bookmarked" component selection to use with Isolate Select. For example, this lets you have the legs of a character defined as a bookmarked selection that you can instantly activate. The option box allows you to give the bookmark a name of your choosing. To view bookmarked items, peform a Show]Bookmarks]___. Choose it again to turn it off and return to the previous view.
