Mesmer Teacher Coop Program
How the Teacher Co-op Class Program Works
The Mesmer Teacher's Co-op Class program is designed to add in
special classes that Mesmer doesn't normally teach,
in a way that's easy, quick, low hassle for instructors and
financially worthwhile for everybody.
Anybody can propose a class, but the best classes are those that:
(1) Are taught by someone with special knowledge, skill, and experience
(2) Present something that the teacher is passionate about
(3) Have a good mix of theory and application
(4) Have plenty of hands-on time
Classes don't have to be artistic, and they don't have to be
technical. The instructor can decide how long the class should be,
when it should run, and how much it should cost.
Mesmer will assist in all those decisions. The instructor comes up
with a course outline and material for handouts.
After a class is planned, Mesmer will put it on the schedule, and
market it through our regular newsletter, emails, web site, and
electronic course catalog. The instructor is encouraged to market it
as well, and we can certainly work together on special marketing
ideas.
Mesmer handles the registration, accounting and billing, and provides
the venue along with other required material, like handouts for the
class.
Then the students show up, the instructor teaches the class,
everybody goes home, and Mesmer cuts a check for half of the proceeds
to the instructor.
To make a co-op class happen, Mesmer and the instructor need to
produce these items:
(1) A class title
(2) A length for the class
(3) A time of day for the class
(4) A cost for the class
(5) A general date range to run the class
(6) A two paragraph text description that will draw people in - for
marketing purposes
(7) A good class outline, in sufficient detail to teach from
How to get the Ball Rolling
To pitch an idea for a teacher coop class, get together all the
particulars about the idea you have in mind, and then contact Anthony
Rossano via email, at anthor@mesmer.com.
Anthony will read all about it, and get back to you with further
ideas, questions or clarifications.
Then together (assuming the idea was mesmerific) you both can work
through the remaining details and get the class scheduled.
