What\'s in our Labs? Geek Out
Mesmer’s in-house learning labs feature the best technology in the
world, with Apple OSX, Mandrake and RedHat Linux, and MS Windows based
computers.
Each lab has front-projecting Sony data screens to display the teacher’s work,
full internet connectivity, and comfortable décor.
The network infrastructure at Mesmer supports Appletalk, NTFS, and NFS
file servers to seamlessly integrate MacOs, OSX, Windows, IRIX and
LINUX based computing.
The Mesmer labs are stoked with site licenses of Alias Maya
Unlimited, Avid Softimage XSI Enterprise Advanced, Discreet 3DS Max,
and Discreet Combustion.
Mesmer has SGI 02 video servers and VHS dubbing decks for client use,
SGI ONYX class visual supercomputers for graphics experimentation, and
a full Final Cut Pro editting suite to cut client demo reels.
Mesmer has a Mac OSX based quicktime streaming video server, and
Cleaner software from Discreet for batch conversion and compression of
streaming media.
Mesmer has several Mac based scanning and editing stations, a green
screen, lighting system, and 3 chip Canon GLI DV cam (with lenses) for
student use.
Mesmer clients can take their work back home via CDROM, DVD, or simply
FTP across the firewall to the globally accessible Mesmer FTP server.
Mesmer’s hardest working machines are the La Pavoni modello Europiccola
espresso and Krups Coffee machines in the back kitchen, which provide free coffee and
espresso shots to clients and students.
