Free Trial Versions of Maya and XSI

Softimage|XSI EXP V.3

Design characters, apply hair, mix and blend animations, render interactively or use real-time shaders. When you like what you see, save all your scenes and rendered images in a local database. Then go that extra step and put it together with the fully integrated compositing environment.
All the features and functionality of XSI v3.0 ESSENTIALS are contained in the EXP, although some limitations are imposed.

Maya Personal Learning Edition (PLE)

The Maya Personal Learning Edition is based on Maya Complete (including NURBS modeling, animation, IK, Maya Artisan, Maya Paint affects, particles, dynamics). Certain features that are part of Maya Unlimited (ex: Cloth, Fur and Live) are not included.

Maya Personal Learning Edition (PLE) is intended for non-commercial use only. There will be a watermark on rendered images and projects cannot be saved. The Maya PLE only makes images that can be viewed in Maya.

You may also take advantage of their web community resource center which gives you free access to additional resources including tutorials, discussion forums, free shaders files and models.
