Want to make games? Frustrated by ‘gaming’ courses that don’t go anywhere near an actual game engine? Want to work with someone who has actually made games professionally? Rather spend four intense days making playable levels than inch forward two nights a week forever? If you answered yes to these questions, then this Unreal class is for you. Tightly limited to 8 class members, and taught by Lane Daughtry, author of Maya Illuminated:Games and veteran of many game industry companies, this class starts with the Unreal 2004 Tournament game engine and the Unreal Editor level design environment. You’ll immediately learn how to build levels from scratch in UnrealEd. You’ll be playing your own levels on the first day!

The class starts with an introduction to the UnrealEd editing environment and the toolset used to create a custom death match level. After the introduction this class delves into the material system and its many components.

Next, the class moves on to advanced environmental authoring using the Unreal proprietary
height mapped terrain system, particle system authoring, fluid surface authoring and finally
using Karma actors to add physically responsive objects to levels.

Finally you will explore the creation of custom static mesh content in Maya, their export
and integration, and then finally editing and tweaking the generated assets in UnrealEd.

This special class can only be offered occasionally due to the rigorous demands of production
on the instructor's time. Get in on this opportunity and reserve one of the eight seats in the class today!
